The Chorus travels to Europe every other year, and participates annually in the Choral Gala at the University of New Hampshire. </font></i></font><br /><font size="4"><i><font size="1">Previous to founding the group, Madelyn taught at the elementary and secondary levels in the Manchester School District. Currently, Madelyn is on a sabbatical from the New Hampshire Youth Chorus as her and her husband transition to retirement. She is also the founder of "Opera Viva" in Italy and continues to work with that thriving program. At other points in her career, she has founded choirs for women in prison and worked with choirs on military bases. She has broad experience working to promote and elevate choral music in many areas and on</font></i></font><br /><font size="4"><i><font size="1">many levels. </font></i></font><br /><font size="4"><i><font size="1">While serving as President of our chapter of ACDA, Madelyn felt strongly about increasing opportunities for choristers and choral directors alike. As such, she was instrumental in getting NH ACDA to collaborate with Plymouth State University to bring Dr. André Thomas to NH for "African American Spirituals and the Freedom Train." Additionally, Madelyn worked to organize several Messiah Sing festivals. Finally, Madelyn has always been willing to collaborate with NHMEA on behalf of ACDA and present sessions at state conferences. <p><font size="4"> It is my pleasure to invite you and your choral students to
New Hampshire for the 2012 New England Area ACDA Collegiate Conference
sponsored by NHACDA. This year's conference will be hosted at Keene State
College on Saturday, September 29th, 2012 from 8:45am-4:00pm. ACDA collegiate
members and non-members who are preparing for a career in choral music
education are invited to attend. The conference will offer a wide variety of
workshops, panels, an all-sing, and will include lunch with the $10 ($15 -
nonmember rate) registration fee. Please see the attached registration for
further details.</font></p>





<p><font size="4">On behalf of National ACDA, we are thrilled to offer new
memberships to ACDA for collegiate non-members for only $5. The National
organization has agreed to match state's contribution of $15 for every new
membership. Nonmembers who attend the conference will be eligible for this
introductory $5 membership rate. </font></p>

<p><font size="4"> Collegiate chapter advisors and professors are invited to
attend the conference free of charge. If you have interest to present a session
at this regional conference, please submit the included session proposal form
by April 1, 2012.</font></p>

Director for Chapter Liasson, reported that 40% of the eligible NHACDA members (all except student members) cast votes during the open election period.  This was an outstanding voter participation.</font></p>

Dan is extremely active in NH choral music, directing choral activities at PSU and conducting the Manchester Choral Society. <br /><br /><span>    </span>The Board congratulates Dr. Daniel R. Perkins, this year's recipient.
